Classical European silhouettes receive an unexpected, highly tactile contemporary interpretation in the dramatic contours of this unique chest of drawers. Channelling the theatrical romance of an 18th-century French bombe commode, the piece features beautifully swelling, curved sides and a scalloped apron supported by slender cabriole legs. The entire wooden framework is wrapped in an extraordinary, multi-layered golden-bronze woven wire overlay, creating a dense, straw-like textured patina that catches the light from every angle. Resting smoothly on top is a thick, substantial slab of naturally veined cream marble, contoured perfectly to follow the serpentine lines of the cabinetry below. Three deep, wide drawers offer excellent storage capacity, accented by ornate, classical brass swing handles that ground the artistic design.
